We are facing an unprecedented crisis.
Over 1.5 million Americans are infected with COVID-19. Stuck in the middle are our frontline healthcare workers (ie 60% of nurses in Seton Hospital are Filipino) & scientists that will be forced to work double and triple shifts to get people well and find a cure for the virus. Who will help feed them and their families?
At the same time, another crisis is brewing…
To fight the spread of COVID-19 governments have issued a “shelter-in-place” mandates that have shut down the economy, laying off millions of people. The most impacted are vulnerable communities already on the edge: low income immigrants, the undocumented, and the seniors of SOMA Pilipinas.
To make matters worse, Filipino food businesses are in danger of collapsing.
A recent survey we conducted found that nearly 40% of Filipino Businesses have laid-off their staff and 67% of these businesses only have 2 months until they are insolvent.
WE Can address all 3 challenges.
By pooling our resources, we can stabilize struggling Filipino Food businesses, show our appreciation to frontline healthcare workers, and most importantly feed our seniors and other vulnerable communities impacted by the economic devastating COVID-19 has inflicted on our country.
